Dice-K wins first game against AAA team

So the Dice-K mania has begun in Beantown, as he struck out 10 Kansas City Royals including Ryan Shealy 3 times. Now does this mean that Boston has gotten $103 Million worth of value out of him with one win?

Lets consider that the Red Sox are supposed to beat the Royals. The Kansas City AL Franchise is a long time away from their glory days of Whitey Herzog, George Brett, Frank White Dan Quisenberry and Paul Splittorff. This team, like so many in the past 10 years is going to struggle to not lose 90-100 games. Although I think the Royals are moving in the right direction with some young players gaining valuable major league service time, and it is also good to see the owners spending some of the money earned with the luxury tax to overpay Gil Meche this winter. But wait, this is not about the Royals, this is about the debut of Dice-K.

I honestly don't know if Mr. Matsuzaka is going to succeed in this league or not. Is he Hideki Irabu or Hideo Nomo or better or worse? It is going to take a few more times around the league, facing the Yankees and the Blue Jays 5 times each this season to see if he really has what it takes to succeed or maybe truly become a superstar. My hope as a Yankee fan, is that he excels the first time around the league, then gets shelled once folks figure out this mythical "Gyro-ball"
