Letter to Advocate on school population

Dear Advocate

Rather than fixating on bad decisions made by prior boards or past political agreements this Board of Education needs to look forward to figure out the best way to deal with our growing school population. That means working with the new mayor, the board of reps and the board of finance to deal with this fact. To redistrict or to call it (like putting lipstick on a pig) realignment is only going to shuffle the deck and upset parents without addressing the fact that their predecessors screwed up and did not plan appropriately.  This seems like a very tall task when they cannot even set a calendar until 2 weeks before school starts. But I really hope they prove me wrong this time!!!
