Links of the Day - May 18, 2007

The 18-20 Yankees Should Be on Pace for 94 Wins - Interesting theory. I would be very happy with 94 wins, since that should at least keep us in the Wild card race and be around if the Red Sox have a typical late summer swoon.

Giambi's comments to be investigated - This should be watched carefully as well. Where I have been a full supporter of the Mitchell Investigation, I think Giambi is correct that everyone involved, the league, the teams and the players association should at least admit that the whole steroid thing occurred and now they are doing everything they can to keep the playing field level. It will be a true shame if Giambi winds up getting suspended over these comments, since it is closer to common sense and closure, which might allow the fans to move.

Privacy and Security - A curious way indeed to fight the war on terror, once again warning us that Big Brother is out there and we bloggers need to be very careful about what we write with the understanding that it can and will be held against us.

Yes, the Red Sox habitually have that late season slump. We used to call it "choking in the clutch". Of course, I, as a Red Sox fan, can hope they overcome it, related as it is to the "Curse of the Bambino" effect.

Thanks for those links to the Timothy Lutts article on Privacy and Security, the news article on Andrew Feldmar, and the Epic Alert. It sure gives one pause. Just hope this country can survive the damage caused by the Bush administration -- or, is it too dangerous for me to say that? Hope not!

The Curse of the Bambino was a fictional creation of Dan Shaughnessy. My biggest concern right now with your team is that they have no apparent flaws. The pitching is solid and will get better when Lester returns, and the offense is virtually unstoppable as long as Manny remains engaged. The question is can the rotation remain healthy, and with Beckett going on the DL for his old Blister problems, it just makes you wonder.

I just hope the Yankees are getting the injury and inconsistent play out of the way early, so they are better down the stretch. But either way the Red Sox are going to be tough to catch, now that they have a 10 game lead.
