To Snow Day or No Snow Day. Winter Storm Nemo

I just read the Stamford Advocate comments regarding the decision of SPS schools to stay open in spite of the impending blizzard, then completely butchering the automated call systems, and for what it is worth, here is my take. It is always easier to shoot arrows in hindsight but it was not snowing at 5 am when decisions needed to be made. We debated sending Jacob since there was no snow flying at 645 when his bus comes, so it seemed prudent at the time. The ridiculousness lies in insisting on two spring vacations instead of one, and the idea that we will sacrifice one day of April vacation for each additional snow day. Did they put the calendar ahead of student safety? Perhaps, but if the BoE had listened to the parents, teachers and community then Dr. Hamilton would not have been between a rock and a hard place this morning
